Start with the visual role
Both palms are cultivated forms of Phoenix dactylifera, but they do not usually read the same in a finished landscape. Medjool is typically selected when the project needs a broad, commanding specimen. Deglet Noor is often stronger when repetition, vertical rhythm and matched rows matter more than one dominant focal point.
Those tendencies are useful for early design direction, but they do not replace review of the actual field material. Clear-trunk height, trunk diameter, taper, crown elevation, finish and harvest history still decide whether a particular palm fits.
Where Medjool is usually stronger
Medjool is the better starting point for estate entries, resort focal points, civic landmarks and commercial spaces where immediate visual weight is part of the design intent.

Specify the actual palms
Do not specify either cultivar by name alone. The request should include quantity, clear-trunk range, destination, access, receiving equipment, delivery window and the level of visual matching required. A natural character specimen and a formal matched row are different purchases.
